Addressing problems with your site caused by moving to a new server.
As part of our ongoing commitment to a robust service we occasionally need to upgrade hardware and replace servers within our network, or move hosting accounts to a new server in cases of server failures or new requirements.
When moving your site to a new server, it is likely that versions of PHP, MYSQL and other server components will be slightly different on the newer server. The latest versions of PHP and MySQL which we use for new servers are currently:
This guide is aimed at helping you to check for any problems with your site before the migration and to help with fixing any possible errors that may appear.
1. Previewing your site on the new server.
Initially, your sites data will be copied ovr to the new server, and you will recieve a temporary URL for previewing your site and logging into the Control panel, for example:
Temporary Plesk Control panel Log in:

(Your existing username and password for Plesk will remain the same on the new server)

The Plesk generated preview link above may not work fully with some sites, particularly dynamic sites using PHP aplications. In this case you can use the method outlined here to edit your hosts file and preview your site on the new server normally through your browser:

2. Updating common applications and scripts
If your site runs on a common CMS package such as Joomla, Wordpress, Drupal etc, or an ecommerse package such as OS commerse, Magento, Cubecart etc. You should update to the latest version of your package. In most cases this can be done with a few steps
