If you find that your email account is using too much of your server space, you may eventually recieve emails like this:
"Notification: Resource limits exceeded on
domain"
The 'yourdomain.com' domain, owned by user account 'Yourname', is
approaching or already exceeded the limits:
Disk space: 568.35 MB used / 500.00 MB limit
You can reduce your Mail inbox size by logging into webmail and deleting old or especially large emails, however, there is an easier way:
There should be no reason to delete lots of emails to cut down on server space used, so long as you have Mail delivery options set up correctly in your mail program. For example, if you use Outlook:
tools -> Account settings -> change account settings -> more settings -> Advanced
In here you will find delivery settings:
"Leave a copy of messages on the server"
(Yes if you use more than one device (iphone etc) or webmail to access emails, if you don't need to leave messages on the server then select NO)
"remove from server after xx days"
(set this to 30 days or less to avoid taking up too much server space while still having access to 1 month of emails via webmail)
"remove from server when deleted from "deleted Items" Folder"
(Set this to yes)
With these settings all your emails will still be saved to your desktop, but your server space will only hold 30 days of duplicate emails. So you won't have to delete emails unless you really want to.
